ABS - Barbara Hepworth inspired pieces
These pieces I called ABS (art by subtraction), the basic shape reflects the work of Barbara Hepworth in its use of curves and the hole in the centre. The angular cuts are more my own innovation.
I call them ABS because I start with a basic shape and create the form by removing areas. The ultimate use of negative space! They were designed using 3D Builder software. Then the forms printed on my 3D printer. The forms moulds were made by utilizing the benefits that come from being able to custom design the form.
I have made this form in three sizes, benefiting from the ability to scale up a form as I prove that the shape has no undercuts.

The second size demonstrated the use of a novel approach to mould making, by making the form in two halves.
